Antique Hunting in Round Top, Texas
Twice a year, the population of Round Top, Texas—a number that hovers around 90—explodes. Out-of-town visitors flock from all over to attend the Round Top Antiques Fair, a sprawling festival ground nestled in Texas hill country that’s dotted with farm buildings and tents that are filled, virtually to the brim, with prized antiques from the world over.

Joined by Drew Michael Scott (aka Lone Fox), we traveled to Round Top in search of unique vintage finds for our Lone Fox x Joon Loloi Vintage Capsule. Drew’s love for storied antiques drives his design style, and his eye for a good vintage find is unmatched, so it only felt right that we made the special trip for a truly special collection.
Treasures Abound
Our first day, we hit the ground running with a visit to the popular Big Red Barn.
Drew was immediately drawn to a vendor selling art and midcentury lighting, picking up a 19th-century line drawing (which became the first addition to our collection, Study of Hands).
As we continued through The Big Red Barn, Drew picked up pottery, a pitcher, candle sticks, and a lamp for himself. In searching through the selection, Drew was after pieces that embodied his own style, which included midcentury modern and brutalist influences, warm colors, and storied patina.
Round Top is a collection of vendors, where large antique shows are offset by the smaller mom-and-pop operations, allowing for unexpected discoveries. At Country Line Antiques, a small family-owned booth, we found some of the best pieces in all of our searching.
Following day one’s lucky findings, we came back for day two excited to dig into more. Drew was quick to uncover beautiful pieces, haggling for mirrors, paintings, statuettes, and more. Even when we weren’t shopping, we were soaking up the inspiration—traces of which you’re sure to see in future collections.
